valentino spring 2011 via vogue
"don't you love her as she's walkin out the doooorr...!" (sorry, theme music moment). holy moly valentino. i am loving this collection. the looks are characteristically romantic and feminine, but there's a noticeable edge, a hardness that reminds you that this is no damsel in distress. and the textures! the combination of lace, sheer, and ruffles is dangerously sexy when paired with leather. there's also that noticeable nod to the 70s that's been showing up everywhere for the last few seasons (of which i am such a fan, by the way. who else can't stop thinking about peasant tops, hot pants, prairie skirts, and bell bottoms?). this collection definitely checks a lot of boxes for me. aaand now i've got the doors stuck in my head... :)
